It’s the start of the New Year which means it’s probably the right time to make subtle changes in our life that are going to make a world of difference. At Butterfly Direct we’re setting our sights on creating our summer bodies, but don’t fret, we’ve got about six months to transform ourselves so we can finally feel comfortable wearing our bikinis around the pool. That means we’ve got absolutely bags of time – but the early bird catches the worm, so they say. So, we’re going to inform you on ways you can update your look and start feeling full of energy. Here are a few tips to ensure 2018 is your best year yet!
Learn Chinese (or maybe a simpler language)
Even though this won’t have any significant effect on your physical appearance, learning a new language will ensure you become more confident, your memory levels will be larger than an elephants, traveling will be a lot easier, and you may even get yourself a new job out of it. What more could you want from 2018?
Take up a new hobby
Science has proven that taking up a new hobby is likely to make you happier and also more productive at work. Ideas include running, cycling, reading, gardening, signing up to a course such as cooking or yoga, walking, and bowling. The list is endless what you can do and it opens up a world of social opportunities too so you’ll probably end the year with way more friends than you started with!
A great way to show yourself and others that you mean business is to declutter. Try throwing out all the things from your old life that won’t fit in with the ‘New You’. By doing this you are sending out a positive message that you fully intent to achieve your goals and not slide back into old habits. If you didn’t wear an item of clothing in 2017, recycle it and make room for 2018!
Throw your ‘fat clothes’
If you are aiming to lose weight, start by throwing out your ‘fat clothes’. By holding on to them you are basically telling yourself you will need them again – that’s just setting yourself up to fail. If you are going to go through the effort to get slim, why would you not want to maintain it? Donating your clothes to charity will make you feel good or you could try selling them online and use the cash for your new look.
…Same rule applies for bad foods
Try clearing out the fridge and the pantry of all the unhealthy foods. Those cabinets full of sugary snacks and over-processed junk food are terrible for your body and wellbeing. Getting rid will only help in preventing temptation and it will also make room for all the healthy stuff.
…But don’t stop there!
Try going through all your make up and beauty products, and throw anything you don’t use. If you’re stuck in a rut, go to your local department store and book yourself a makeover. This won’t cost much and you can redeem what you pay against products. Updating your look can literally take years off you so it’s definitely worth it. Why not time it to coincide with a special occasion so you go out feeling extra special?
Put yourself first!
Try starting the day right by granting yourself a bit of ‘me’ time. Instead of reaching for your phone as soon as you wake up and becoming trapped in social media, make a coffee and allow yourself 10 minutes to read the morning paper. Or start your morning off by completing an exercise routine that will ensure you’re ready to smash the day ahead. You’ll soon start reaping the benefits and doing so will help with any anxiety you may be suffering with. After a while you’ll wonder how you never used to find time to put yourself first.
